
Back in February, we reported Chrome PWA Windows got tab strips albeit behind a flag, today, Microsoft brought the same experimental UI for PWAs to Edge browser.
Microsoft is working to add more features to PWAs in Edge browsers. The company’s aim is to make PWAS more native in Windows 10 and has announced,it will bring a slew of new PWA features to May 2020 Update.
Till now, Edge PWAs can run on startup, supports jumplists on Windows 10 taskbar and colored title bars with removing the color option. To the latest. Edge team is testing the tab strip for PWAs.
Enable Tab Strips for PWAs in Edge browser
- Launch new Edge
- Visit edge://flags
- Search for “Desktop PWA tab strips”
- Click on the dropdown arrow and select ‘Enabled”
- Restart the browser
1. Visit the Twitter website.
2. Click on the icon in the address bar and select “Open as tabbed window”
3. Click install
Once you launch Twitter PWA, you’ll notice a tabbed interface. Open links in news tabs as if you’re using a web browser.
Related to Edge PWAs, when you try to move a PWA to a different drive in Windows 10, it actually doesn’t save much space you’re aiming for, only App Manifest will be moved. The PWA Storage will still be in the Edge Profile directory.
