Disable News on Speed Dial in Opera

Personal News introduced with Opera 39 is getting an expansion in Opera developer version (Opera 54), News to appear on Speed Dial or Start Page by default below the speed dial folders. While the current Stable version of Opera, which has got Instant Search and Flow, doesn’t display News on the new tab, but you can access it by clicking the Newspaper icon in the sidebar.

It’s just not a news feed, a newsreader which you can personalize by adding sites manually. For instance, you can add a site feed to Personal News in Opera.  By default, Opera shows news and headlines from various categories. You can restrict News to appear from particular categories and to specific language and country. You can browse news catalog by visiting ‘Add Sources’ section in Personal News.

Disable or hide News on Speed Dial in Opera

1. Click on easy setup icon on right of page

2. Scroll down to Appearance and deactivate ‘Show News’

Disable News in Opera

3. Done, Personal News has been disabled on Speed Dial or start Page in Opera browser.

Do note, you can still access or open Personal News in Opera by clicking the related icon in the sidebar.
