AI Services in Opera
In the last few months, AI has been interesting and exciting. Bing has integrated ChatGPT into its Search and Edge browser.
Google is testing Brad.
Now, Opera Software has integrated the web version of ChatGPT and ChatSonic into Opera Sidebar and AI Prompts into the browser.
While Edge doesn’t require you to sign in to ChatGPT to use chat, ChatGPT available on the sidebar does require login with OpenAI credentials.
The same goes for ChatSonic. Both services are shortcuts embedded into the sidebar for quick access like Twitter and other.
AI Prompts
On the other hand, Opera has baked AI Prompts into the browser. The prompts use GPT-based chatbots ChatGPT and Chatsonic.
Opera has designed AI prompts.
AI prompts appear in the address bar as well when you highlight a word or phrase or text or paragraph.
Previously, Opera used to show only copy, search, and snapshot, now AI Prompts.
The button appears in the address bar after enabling.
For instance, it allows an option (Shorten) to generate summaries.
Depending on the webpage you’re on, you’ll see relevant AI Prompts that use ChatGPT and ChatSonic.
Here’re some you notice on websites
- Shorten
- What’s the main point
- Find related content
- Create a tweet
- Create a meme idea
- Comment like a pro
- Comment like a grumpy cat
- Create proactive content
Do note, most of the prompts use ChatGPT and these prompts’ appearance depends on the webpage content.

This also enables AI Services in the sidebar and AI Prompts in the address bar and on the popup when you highlight text.
After that, you can click on ChatGPT in the sidebar and sign into it and use it if you’ve subscribed. The same goes with ChatSonic as well.
Opera promises it will bring a second state of its browser AI program and its own GPT-based browser AI Engine.
How to disable AI Prompts and ChatGPT and ChatSonic Chatbots in the Opera browser
- Open Opera browser
- Click on Easy Setup

There is no way to disable ChatGPT while keeping ChatSonic.
And, AI prompts are tied to AI Services, so you need to turn off AI Prompts in the Opera browser to turn off whole AI Tools and AI features in the browser.

Always have a way to disable wallets and AI stuff even better a way to permanently remove it.
Would prefer to remove them rather than disable. They add to the footprint of the app and provide no useful information.
This thing is annoying so I disabled it, thanks for the guide.
Thank you, very helpful. It reminds me of a nosy person who butts into conversations that are none of their business. What’s to become of a culture that doesn’t think for itself? So much for generations of creative people…
