Is Edge 88 slow? Try this Fix

Microsoft has recently released Edge 88 stable with new features, improvements, and bug fixes. While new Edge came loaded with exciting stuff, it also brought a slow page loading issue to many users. Luckily, the issue can be fixed pretty easily.

Edge is currently the second most popular browser in the world.

To avoid compatibility issues, Microsoft adopted Chromium/Blink for Edge browser, and to ensure it’s not a Chrome clone and its long-standing memory issue, Redmond giant has brought in various features such as startup boost to enhance Edge performance on Windows.

The latest version of Edge comes with the following features

Fix Microsoft Edge 88 is slow issue

As we said above, unfortunately, some users affected by Edge’s slow loading issue.

If you’re affected, first things first, ensure you’re using the latest version 88.0.705.56 as it fixed a similar issue when opening the start page or home page in Edge.

If, using the most recent stable version doesn’t address the problem, follow the below steps.

Fix Microsoft Edge 88’s slow loading issue on Windows

If you’re using Windows 10

  1. Open Settings
  2. Click on Network & Internet
  3. Select Proxy
  4. Under “Automatically Proxy Setup”
  5. Toggle “Automatically detect Settings” to off.

Another way to open Windows Proxy Settings is through the Edge browser

  1. Launch Edge browser
  2. Visit Settings
  3. Select System
  4. Click on “Open your computer’s proxy Settings”

If you’re using earlier versions of Windows,

  1. Use Win+R to open the Run dialog and run the command  “inetcpl.cpl”(without quotes)
  2. This opens an Internet Properties dialog
  3. Click on Connections > Advanced
  4. Under Automatic configuration, uncheck “automatically detect Settings”
