Microsoft tests News Widget in Microsoft Edge browser

After adding the ‘News and interests’ taskbar Wiget to Windows 10 in an Insider build, Microsoft is now bringing the same widget to Edge browser. If you miss checking for weather and headlines from the taskbar and on Edge New Tab Page, the company has reportedly integrated ‘Web Widget’ into Edge browser for news.

You can able to open the Web Widget either by visiting

  • Three-dot menu > more tools
  • or by selecting the option present under  “Get search and personalized news anytime’ on New Tab Page settings.

Seems the aim of Microsoft here is to deliver news that gets updated in real-time without the need to open New Tab Page in the Edge browser through a widget.

They’ve brought one for Windows 10 taskbar, now experimenting with another one for Edge browser.

All in all, this may be unnecessary for a normal user who use Edge to browse web sites then check what’s happening and what the weather and Stock Markets info is about.
