Back in November last year, Microsoft has begun rolling out a new Media Player app for Windows 11. Media Player with fluent design, rounded corners, and other aesthetics only available to Windows insiders running Dev channel then. Today, Microsoft has pushed an update to the Groove app to make it available to Windows 11 users running build 22000.
Media Player UI matches that of Windows 11 look and feels and it displays and plays local media content on your device.
In case you don’t know, Microsoft has replaced Groove App in Windows 11 with the Media Player.
Do we need another Video Player in Windows 11 with Movies & TV and Windows Media Player already available? Microsoft thought so.
Windows 11 Media Player comes with orange accent color forced
The app comes with light and dark themes and supports using system themes in Windows personalization settings.
You can change the Media Player theme by choosing an option under the App theme of Personalisation in Settings.
When the app was first available, the orange accent color has been forced on UI.
You can notice this on the album page, artist page, playlist and Play queue, Video player, and Settings page as well.
Those who don’t like the Media Player accent color didn’t have the option to change to make Media Player use Windows 11 Accent color whichever set by users.
The latest update released in January 2022, addresses this.
Media Player now contains a dedicated setting to toggle between App default color scheme and Windows 11 accent color.
