Opera Software has added sponsored or their partner bookmarks to bookmarks bar in Opera 54, we’ve covered how to remove them (you can notice the speed dials also on start page). Not over yet! If you delete them Opera will re-add the new ones such as Amazon, eBay, Booking.com, Walmart, TripAdvisor and Facebook, etc.
To prevent this from happening Opera desktop team has added a new option for Start Page to Settings in Opera 56, just enable it and you’re good to go, here is how you can do that.
Note: If you’re using Opera 54, at the moment, there is no way to prevent Opera from pushing promoted bookmarks and speed dials to the start page.
Stop Opera from adding its partner bookmarks and speed dials to Start Page
Ensure you’re using Opera 56 and know, this Opera version has got a new settings page which resembles that of Chrome Settings page
1. Visit opera://flags/#partner-bookmarks-opt-out
2. Select Enabled and restart the browser.
Note: If the flag is enabled you don’t need to make any changes.
3. Click on Opera menu, select Settings, scroll down and click on Advanced
4. Scroll down further and under Start Page, disable ‘Receive promoted Speed Dials and Bookmarks‘
5. Done.
Note: Opera partner bookmarks opt out is currently enabled in developer channel only and will be available to public when the company ships Opera 56 stable.

Awesome! Thank you, I thought I was going to have to switch back to Firefox.
Opera 12 would never have done this $h!t. Opera 12 was amazing.
The current Opera is an aberration and a plague upon the world.
