How to install Elgato Stream Deck on Windows 11
- Open the Elgato downloads page and select the Windows tab.
- Click Download under Stream Deck.
- Double-click Stream_Deck_7.5.1.22901.msi in your Downloads folder.
- Follow the setup wizard screens.
- Click Install, then select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Close the wizard when setup completes.
- Plug your Stream Deck into a USB port on the PC.
- Open Stream Deck from the Start menu and drag an action from the right-hand list onto a key.
Connect the Stream Deck directly to the PC or with an extension of 1 meter or less. Elgato does not certify longer extension cables, because the device draws its power over USB.

Choose between the current Stream Deck and version 6.8.1
Stream Deck 6.9 raised the minimum system to Windows 11 and macOS 13 Ventura. Version 6.8.1, from December 2024, is the last release built for Windows 10 and macOS 11 Big Sur.
Install 7.5.1 on Windows 11 and macOS 13 or later, and try it first on Windows 10. Fall back to 6.8.1 only on a Mac that cannot run Ventura or a Windows 10 PC where 7.5.1 fails. Elgato says current versions should continue to work on Windows 10, but without guaranteed full functionality. Version 6.8.1 lacks Virtual Stream Deck and Key Logic from 7.0, plus support for newer hardware such as the CORSAIR NIGHTSWORD v2 mouse added in 7.5.0.
How to check your Stream Deck version and update it
- Open Stream Deck and click the cog icon at the top to open Preferences.
- Open the Profiles tab, click the down arrow at the bottom right, and select Backup All > Create Backup….
- Save the backup file, which ends in .StreamDeckProfilesBackup.
- Press Win + I, open Apps > Installed apps, and search for Elgato Stream Deck to read your version.
- Compare it with the version on the Elgato downloads page.
- Use Check for updates in the Stream Deck app, or download the newer installer from elgato.com.
- Quit Stream Deck and run the new installer.
- Reopen Stream Deck and confirm your profiles and keys are in place.
Device firmware updates live in Preferences > Devices, under the Brightness slider. Elgato advises updating firmware only when the hardware has a problem.

Fix Elgato Stream Deck not installing or not working
The installer refuses to run or the app misbehaves on an older system
Stream Deck 7.x needs Windows 11 or macOS 13 Ventura.
- Run winver on Windows, or open About This Mac on a Mac, to check your version.
- Upgrade to Windows 11 or macOS 13 Ventura if your computer supports it.
- Otherwise install Stream Deck 6.8.1 instead.
The Stream Deck keys stay dark or are not detected
A long USB extension or an unpowered hub cannot supply enough power or data.
