
Surprise, surprise! Microsoft has quietly published Edge Canary version 91 for Android to Google Play Store and is available for download. Do note, the current stable based on Chromium is still at version 77.
Microsoft launched a new Edge for Windows and Mac, one year back. Edge for Android has been available before but it was never in line with Chrome releases.
As of now, Edge for Android on version 77 while Edge on the desktop is running at version 90. Microsoft wants Edge browsers on all platforms to use one common codebase.
In case you don’t know, at Ignite 2021, the Redmond software giant announced it will unify Edge desktop and Edge mobile apps codebase.
What this means is Edge for Android and iOS will be running the same version as the latest Windows Version.
Microsoft Edge Canary 91 for Android
Guess what, in addition to stable and Beta, Edge for Android has a Canary version available on the Play Store.
Microsoft Edge for Android comes with the following features
- Built-in Translator (powered by Bing)
- Themes: Light, dark, and device theme
- Micrsoft Defender Smartscreen filter.
- You can sign into Microsoft Account and sync Passwords, favorites, addresses, History, open tabs, collections, Payment information, and more across the devices
- Tracking Prevention: Basic, Balanced and Strict.
After installing Edge Canary for the first time, you can change the Edge theme, New Tab Page layout, and Tracking Prevention mode setting.
Edge Android is now moving in the right path. We have to wait and see when Edge 91 for Android stable will be released and Microsoft’s plans on adding new features to Android and IOS apps.
