Microsoft Edge Chromium is reportedly displaying an error to some users while browsing news articles on MSN or New Tab Page or Bing. The Edge just hangs and shows the error: This page is having a problem w/ error code: Result_Code_Hung suggesting the user come back later or open a new tab or refresh the current page to load it properly.
Wha you need to know:
- Edge is throwing RESULT_CODE_HUNG while accessing Microsoft news
- The error page informs the page has a problem and recommends to refresh the page or open a new tab
- The issue seems specific to Edge and not reported in Chrome
Microsoft is aware of this issue and investigating to find the cause and hopefully, it delivers a fix.
Meanwhile, if you’re affected, try the following
- Ensure you’re using the latest Edge, especially version 89 that came with new features and bug fixes
- Try to use the site that is triggering the error, MSN here in InPrivate Windows to see if extensions or tracking protection features may be causing this.
- Try Beta or dev or Canary versions to check if Edge produces that error or not
- Try accessing the MSN or affecting page in Chrome or another browser until the issue is fixed by Microsoft.

Having this problem for the past few days. Looks like it started about the same time they did an edge update. I have tried all the fixes but nothing worked. Every time msn updates it screws something up or changes things and I am sick of it. Maybe a chromebook is in my future.

started with this problem a few days ago. Click on the edge icon, and you have to wait 60 seconds or more for the home page to come up. Try to do a search on an article or go to outlook, and you wait at least a minute for it to come up. Same for clicking directly on the outlook icon. 3/17/21, 8:50 p,m, cdt.

I’m getting RESULT_CODE_HUNG on Facebook for the past three days. I don’t get it in any other application. It seems every time Microsoft updates, it screws something up.
