The Citrix Workspace download is free for Windows 11, Windows 10 and Mac, and citrix.com releases the installer without an account. Accept the licence agreement and the file starts.
The app on its own connects to nothing. Citrix Workspace app is a client for a Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix DaaS or StoreFront environment, and Citrix states that the app requires a backend infrastructure to be correctly configured before you start using it. Your IT help desk supplies the store URL or work email address you sign in with.
This guide covers which file matches your machine, the official pages for Windows, Mac and the Microsoft Store, the offline installer, the ARM64 build, and what to do when the install fails.

Which Citrix Workspace download do you need?
Citrix splits the client across two tracks, so the right file depends on your processor as much as your Windows version.
| Your machine | File to download | Size |
|---|---|---|
| Windows 11 or 10, 64-bit PC | CitrixWorkspaceApp_x64.exe, current release | 461 MB |
| Windows 11 or 10, 32-bit PC | CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe, current release | 448 MB |
| Windows 11 on a Snapdragon or other ARM chip | CitrixWorkspaceApp_ARM64.exe, 2607 LTSR | 425 MB |
| A PC with no internet access during setup | CitrixWorkspaceFullInstaller_x64.exe | 884 MB |
| Your company standardised on the LTSR track | CitrixWorkspaceApp_x64.exe, 2607 LTSR | 442 MB |
| Mac with Apple silicon or an Intel chip | CitrixWorkspaceApp.dmg, 2607 for Mac | 399 MB |
Press Windows + I, open System > About and read System type to tell a 64-bit PC from an ARM one.
The 32-bit client is ending. Citrix made 64-bit generally available in the 2603 release, and the 2607 LTSR is the last version it ships in both widths.
Download Citrix Workspace from the official Citrix pages
Citrix publishes the client in five places. Each page asks you to accept the licence agreement, then the download starts.
- Citrix Workspace app for Windows, current release — 2603.11, released 11 August 2026, x64, 32-bit and offline installers
- Citrix Workspace app for Windows LTSR — 2607 LTSR, the track carrying the supported ARM64 build
- Citrix Workspace app for Mac — 2607, one disk image for Apple silicon and Intel
- Citrix Workspace app on the Microsoft Store — publisher Citrix, listed at Free
- Citrix Workspace app download hub — Linux, ChromeOS, Android, HTML5 and the SDKs
Citrix prints a SHA-256 value under every file. A copy from a download portal will not match it, and portals lag the release date by months.
Check the Citrix Workspace system requirements
The client is light on hardware and heavy on prerequisites. The standard installer fetches whichever ones are missing while it runs.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Developer | Cloud Software Group, Inc. (Citrix) |
| Latest version | 2603.11 (26.3.11.10) for Windows, 2607 (26.07.0.76) for Mac |
| LTSR version | 2607 LTSR (26.7.0.269) |
| Price | Free download, plus a Citrix environment your organisation pays for |
| Windows file size | 461 MB x64, 448 MB 32-bit, 884 MB offline installer |
| Mac file size | 399 MB |
| Supported OS | Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows Server 2025, 2022 and 2019; macOS 26, 15 and 14 |
| Architecture | x64 and x86; native ARM64 in the 2607 LTSR |
| Memory and disk | 2 GB RAM, 1 GB free disk on Windows, 2 GB on Mac |
| Prerequisites | Edge WebView2 131+, .NET Framework 4.8, x86 .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.15+, latest Visual C++ Redistributable |
| Offline installer | Yes, 884 MB for x64 |
| Official download source | citrix.com |
| Last verified | 2026-09-11 |
The x86 .NET Desktop Runtime is required on 64-bit machines too, which catches out admins who stage only the x64 runtime.
Citrix supports its client only on a Windows version Microsoft still supports, and Windows 10 reached end of support on 14 October 2025.
How to install Citrix Workspace on Windows 11 and 10
Administrator rights are needed for single sign-on, pass-through authentication, App Protection and the Microsoft Teams VDI plug-in. Without them the app still installs, under your own profile.
- Open the Citrix Workspace app for Windows page and select the current release.
- Select Download File beside the x64 build and accept the licence agreement.
- Right-click CitrixWorkspaceApp_x64.exe and select Run as administrator.
- Wait while the installer adds any missing prerequisites. That step needs an internet connection.
- Select Continue on the Welcome to Citrix Workspace Installer screen.
- Accept the Citrix License Agreement and let the installation run.
- On the Add-on(s) page, tick Start App Protection after installation and Enable single sign-on only if IT asked for them.
- Clear Install Microsoft Teams VDI Plugin and Install Zoom VDI Plugin unless your company uses those optimisations. Citrix ticks both by default.
- Open Citrix Workspace, enter the store URL or work email address from your help desk, and sign in.
An administrator install lands in C:\Program Files\Citrix\ICA Client , a user install in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Citrix\ICA Client .
Add /silent to install without prompts, and /CleanInstall to strip leftovers from an older version first.
Install Citrix Workspace from the Microsoft Store
Citrix keeps a Store listing for people who install from a managed catalogue. It wraps the same Windows installer.
- Open Microsoft Store from the Start menu.
- Search for Citrix Workspace, or open product XPFCG3278HX4X9 directly.
- Check the publisher line reads Citrix.
- Select Get, then approve the User Account Control prompt.
- For a command line, run winget install –id XPFCG3278HX4X9 –source msstore in an elevated terminal.
Two limits come with this route: it still needs elevation for the same prerequisites, and Citrix does not support the Teams or Zoom plug-ins on a Store install.
The Store also trails citrix.com. It currently delivers build 26.3.10.69, one maintenance release behind the download page.
Is Citrix Workspace free?
Yes, the client is free. The infrastructure behind it is not. Citrix calls it a free download on its own product page, and the Microsoft Store lists it at Free. The Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix DaaS or StoreFront deployment behind it is what costs money, and your employer buys that. There is no consumer plan, no trial and no licence key to type in, so any site selling a Citrix Workspace licence is selling something else.
Download the Citrix Workspace offline installer for a PC with no internet
The standard installer downloads Edge WebView2 Runtime, the .NET Desktop Runtime and the Visual C++ Redistributable while it runs. The offline installer carries all three, which is why it is roughly twice the size. Copy it to the target PC on a USB stick or a share.
| Offline installer | Track | Size | Page |
|---|---|---|---|
| CitrixWorkspaceFullInstaller_x64.exe | Current release | 884 MB | Windows downloads |
| CitrixWorkspaceFullInstaller.exe | Current release, 32-bit | 791 MB | Same page |
| CitrixWorkspaceFullInstaller_x64.exe | 2607 LTSR | 834 MB | LTSR downloads |
| CitrixWorkspaceFullInstaller_ARM64.exe | 2607 LTSR | 748 MB | Same page |
For a fleet, run CitrixWorkspaceFullInstaller_x64.exe /silent from your deployment tool and test one machine first. The ADMX and ADML templates sit on the same pages for group policy afterwards.
Verify the Citrix Workspace installer before you run it
Citrix prints a SHA-256 hash under each file. Comparing it takes seconds and rules out a truncated download or a copy from elsewhere.
- Copy the SHA-256 value shown under your file on the Citrix download page.
- Open Windows PowerShell in the folder holding the download.
- Run Get-FileHash .\CitrixWorkspaceApp_x64.exe -Algorithm SHA256 .
- Compare the two strings. Anything short of an exact match means the file is not the one Citrix published.
- On a Mac, run shasum -a 256 CitrixWorkspaceApp.dmg in Terminal instead.
- Open Properties > Digital Signatures on the .exe and confirm a Citrix signature is listed.
The current x64 installer hashes to 6773b8601cac93c6d38341c8c43bda05ebec0814c5b9ba2ca2825c689211c3e6 , and the Mac disk image to c954cfa52f768280aca2fd4e774ba0ad96efcd329592f2fc2deb58e1a9bcaa80 .
Which Citrix Workspace download do you need for your Mac?
One disk image covers every supported Mac. Citrix supports the current macOS and the two before it, and nothing older.
| Your Mac | Download | Size |
|---|---|---|
| Apple silicon or Intel, on macOS 26, 15 or 14 | CitrixWorkspaceApp.dmg, 2607 for Mac | 399 MB |
| You need the release before the current one | Citrix Workspace app 2603.11 for Mac | Listed on the same page |
| macOS 13 Ventura or older | No supported build. Update macOS first | None |
Open the disk image, select Continue, Continue, then Agree. Select Install on the Installation Type page and enter an administrator password.
On the Add Account page, select Add Account and Continue, then enter the email address or server URL from your help desk. To script it instead, run sudo installer -pkg “Install Citrix Workspace.pkg” -target / .
Should you install the current release or the LTSR?
Take the current release unless your company runs the LTSR track or your PC has an ARM processor. A current release ships about every quarter, carries the newest features, and reaches end of life 18 months after it appears. An LTSR version has a three-year lifecycle and gets cumulative updates that fix problems without adding features, and Citrix names a new one roughly every 12 months. The 2607 LTSR is also the only track with a supported native ARM64 installer, and the last one that still ships a 32-bit version.
How to check your Citrix Workspace version and update it
The version sits in Advanced Preferences, not in Settings, and updates arrive from Citrix rather than from Windows Update.
- Right-click the Citrix Workspace app icon in the Windows notification area.
- Select Advanced Preferences.
- Read the version in the About section.
- Select Check for Updates from the same right-click menu to pull a newer build.
- Restart Citrix Workspace after any update.
- On a Mac, right-click Citrix Workspace in the toolbar and open Preferences > Advanced to see the update channel.
Automatic updates come from downloadplugins.citrix.com. A proxy that intercepts SSL needs an exception for that host, or the app reports that it cannot connect to the server.
What Citrix Workspace connects to
The client talks to Citrix infrastructure and nothing else. Read this table before you spend 461 MB of bandwidth.
| What you connect to | Supported | What IT gives you |
|---|---|---|
| Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops | Every version still in support | A store URL or your work email address |
| Citrix DaaS | Yes | Your company workspace URL |
| StoreFront | Through StoreFront services or a Receiver for Web site | The server address |
| Citrix Gateway 12.x to 13.x, including VPX | Over HTTPS, ICA-over-TLS or ICA-over-DTLS | The gateway address, plus a root certificate if it is self-signed |
| An existing Citrix Receiver install | Workspace app replaces most versions in place | Confirmation of which older ones to remove first |
| A home PC with no company Citrix deployment | Nothing to connect to | There is no consumer service to sign up for |
Fix Citrix Workspace not installing on Windows 11 or 10
The installer stops and names a prerequisite
It needs Edge WebView2 Runtime, .NET Framework 4.8, the x86 .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.15 or later and the Visual C++ Redistributable. A standard user account cannot install any of them.
- Close the installer, right-click the setup file and select Run as administrator.
- Let it fetch the missing components, which needs internet access.
- With no administrator account, ask IT to push the prerequisites, or use the offline installer.
The install fails on a PC with no internet access
The standard installer pulls Edge WebView2 Runtime from Microsoft and the .NET runtime through downloadplugins.citrix.com.
- Download the offline installer on a PC that is online and copy it across.
- Run it on the target machine. It carries the prerequisites, so nothing is fetched during setup.
- On a locked-down network, ask IT to allow https://*.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com and https://downloadplugins.citrix.com instead.
An upgrade fails or the old version stays behind
Traces of the previous install block the new one, or the installed version is too old to upgrade in place.
- Open a command prompt as administrator in the folder holding the installer.
- Run CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe /CleanInstall to clear leftover files and registry values, then install.
- Run CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe /forceinstall instead when upgrading from a version Citrix no longer supports.
- Restart the PC when App Protection is on and the installer asks for a reboot.
- Read the newest CTXWorkspaceInstallLogs-* folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\Logs for the failure itself.
The ARM64 installer refuses to run
Citrix does not support installing the native ARM64 build over the 32-bit one that ran under emulation, and the installer blocks it.
- Uninstall the existing Citrix Workspace app and restart the PC.
- Run the ARM64 installer from the 2607 LTSR page.
- Rebuild any custom virtual channels as ARM64, because 32-bit channels stop working on the native build.
The app installs but shows no apps or desktops
No store is configured, so the client has nothing to display.
- Ask your help desk for the store URL, or the email address that resolves to it.
- Enter that address on the account screen and sign in with your work credentials.
- If sign-in reports an untrusted certificate, ask IT for the gateway root certificate.
How to uninstall Citrix Workspace from Windows and Mac
Removing the client leaves group policy keys and a few folders behind. Clear those when you are rebuilding a machine, not when you are changing version.
- Open Control Panel > Programs and Features on Windows.
- Select the Citrix Workspace entry, then Uninstall.
- Select OK if you are asked to remove the Citrix HDX RTME package first.
- From a command line, run CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe /uninstall , or add /silent for no prompts.
- Clear any leftover Citrix policy keys with gpedit, because the uninstaller does not touch them.
- On a Mac, quit the app with Citrix Workspace > Quit Citrix Workspace or Command-Q.
- Drag Citrix Workspace from Applications to the bin, enter your password, then select Continue.
Citrix notes that files stay behind in C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix and C:\Program Files\Citrix after an uninstall, and treats that as expected.
Which Citrix Workspace app to install on a phone, Chromebook or Linux PC
No third-party client connects to a Citrix session, so on anything that is not a Windows PC or a Mac the answer is a different Citrix build.
| Device | Build | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Chromebook | For ChromeOS | citrix.com |
| Linux desktop | For Linux | citrix.com |
| iPhone or iPad | For iOS | App Store |
| Android phone or tablet | For Android | Google Play |
| Any device, nothing installed | For HTML5, inside Chrome, Edge or Safari | citrix.com |
An administrator deploys the HTML5 client on the StoreFront server. Where your company enabled it, opening the workspace URL in a browser is the whole install.
Frequently asked questions
Is Citrix Workspace free, and is it freeware?
It is free of charge: Citrix calls it a free download and the Microsoft Store lists it at Free. It is not open source, and you accept a Citrix licence agreement before the download starts. The environment it connects to is paid for separately by your employer.
What is the official Citrix Workspace download page?
For Windows it is the Citrix Workspace app for Windows page on citrix.com, and for Mac the Citrix Workspace app for Mac page. Both sit under the Citrix Workspace app download hub.
What is the Citrix Workspace offline installer?
A larger build that includes Edge WebView2 Runtime, the .NET Desktop Runtime and the Visual C++ Redistributable. The x64 file is 884 MB and installs on a PC with no internet access.
What is the Citrix Workspace download size?
The x64 installer for Windows is 461 MB, the 32-bit installer is 448 MB, and the x64 offline installer is 884 MB. The Mac disk image is 399 MB.
Which Citrix Workspace version is current?
The current release for Windows is 2603.11, published on 11 August 2026. The Mac client is 2607, and the long term service release is 2607 LTSR.
Is there a 64-bit Citrix Workspace for Windows 11?
Yes. CitrixWorkspaceApp_x64.exe is the 64-bit build and the one to take on Windows 11. Citrix made 64-bit generally available in the 2603 release.
Does Citrix Workspace run on an ARM64 PC?
Yes. The 2607 LTSR ships a native ARM64 installer. Earlier builds run under x86 emulation, and Citrix does not support installing the ARM64 build over an emulated one.
Is there a Citrix Workspace app for Mac?
Yes. Citrix Workspace app 2607 for Mac is a single 399 MB disk image that runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, on macOS 26, 15 and 14.
Why is Citrix Workspace not installing?
The usual causes are missing prerequisites, no administrator rights, no internet access during setup, or leftovers from an older version. Run the installer as administrator, or use the offline installer.
How do I download an older version of Citrix Workspace?
Citrix keeps earlier builds under the legacy section of the Workspace app download hub, along with every LTSR cumulative update. Check with your IT team before installing one.
How do I uninstall Citrix Workspace from the command line?
Run CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe /uninstall from the folder holding the installer, and add /silent for an unattended removal. Group policy registry keys stay behind and need clearing separately.
Is the Citrix Workspace download safe?
It is when it comes from citrix.com or the Microsoft Store listing published by Citrix, and no Citrix account is needed. Compare the SHA-256 hash printed under the file with the hash of the file you received.
