You can run Google Play apps on a Windows PC and reach the Play Store from any Mac browser. This guide covers the official routes Google supports for each.
Two official routes do work on a computer. The Play Store website installs apps onto any Android device signed in to your account, and Google Play Games on PC plays Android games on Windows from a 40.6 MB installer.

That 40.6 MB file installs Google Play Games on PC. It is not the Play Store app.

Google distributes Play software from two hosts, and nothing else is Google’s build.

Certification is what puts the store on a device. Google’s wording is blunt: only Play Protect certified devices are eligible to include Google apps, like the Google Play Store app.
Treat any site offering a Play Store EXE as a different program with a borrowed name, and keep Google Play Protect switched on.

Google’s recommended column changes two lines: a gaming-class GPU, like the Nvidia GeForce MX450, and 8 logical cores. It also wants a personal Google Account and the SSD as the main drive.
How to install Google Play Games on Windows 11 and 10
Sign in to a Windows admin account first. This is the only Google-supplied way to run Play games on a PC.
- Open play.google.com/googleplaygames in your browser.
- Click Download and save Install-GooglePlayGames.exe.
- Open the downloaded file.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Follow the on-screen instructions; the install takes a few minutes.
- Turn on Windows Hypervisor Platform if the installer asks, then restart the PC.
- Sign in with the same Google Account you use on your phone.
- Install one game to confirm the platform runs.
If the PC misses a minimum requirement, the installer names the item and stops.
Many titles also need CPU virtualization switched on in the firmware. Microsoft documents that switch in Enable virtualization on Windows.
How to install Play Store apps from a PC or Mac browser
The website pushes an app to any device signed in to the same Google Account.
- Open play.google.com and sign in with your Google Account.
- Search for the app, or browse to its listing.
- Select the item to open its details page.
- Click Install.
- Choose the target device from the dropdown.
- Click Install again to confirm.
- Unlock the device and let the download start on its own.
Google Play shows whether an item is available for some, none or all of your devices. Purchases do not move between accounts.

How to verify the Google Play Games installer is genuine
The Windows installer is signed. The check takes about ten seconds.
- Right-click Install-GooglePlayGames.exe and select Properties.
- Open the Digital Signatures tab.
- Select the signature in the list and click Details.
- Confirm the signer name reads Google LLC.
- Click View Certificate and confirm the issuer is DigiCert Trusted G4 Code Signing RSA4096 SHA384 2021 CA1.
- Open the General tab and compare the size with 42,538,096 bytes.
The current file is signed by CN=Google LLC, O=Google LLC, L=Mountain View, S=California, C=US. No Digital Signatures tab means the file did not come from Google.

None. Google publishes neither the Play Store nor Google Play Games for macOS.

A Chromebook that supports Android apps is the only laptop Google puts the real Play Store on.
Is Google Play Store free?
Yes, and so is Google Play Games on PC. Google charges for apps, subscriptions and in-app items, never for the store or the PC client. The web store at play.google.com costs nothing to use, and the 40.6 MB Windows installer costs nothing to download. Any page selling a Play Store setup file or a licence key is selling something Google does not publish.
How to check your Google Play Games version and update it
The PC client updates itself, and it also updates on demand from the taskbar.
- Right-click Google Play Games on PC in the notification area of the taskbar.
- Click Check for updates.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- If the update fails, uninstall the app through Apps & features.
- Download the installer again from play.google.com/googleplaygames.
- Run it and sign back in with the same Google Account.
The installer Google serves today reports 26.8.705.0 in its file properties. On Android there is nothing to update by hand; the store refreshes through Google Play services.

The catalogue is games. Non-game Android apps are not part of Google Play Games on PC.
Fix Google Play Store and Play Games problems on Windows and Android
The Windows installer stops partway
The PC misses a minimum requirement, and the installer names it.
- Free at least 10 GB on the C: drive, which clears error NU80070424.
- Update Windows and try again for NU8001008, NU80040811 and NUFFFFFFFF.
- Sign in to an account with administrator rights for NU80070005 and NU80070542.
- Restart the PC and rerun the installer for 10901, 99999 and NC99999.
- Download a fresh copy for the NU80040801 family, which points at the network.
Games will not start after the install finishes
Windows Hypervisor Platform or CPU virtualization is switched off.
- Turn on Windows Hypervisor Platform when prompted, then restart the PC.
- Turn on CPU virtualization in the firmware settings.
- Update the graphics driver from the GPU maker.
- Right-click the taskbar icon, click Exit, then reopen the app.
The Play Store icon is missing on your Android phone
It ships with the device, so a missing icon means it is hidden, turned off or uncertified.
- Open Google Play, tap the profile icon, then Manage apps & device.
- Open Manage, select Google Play Store and tap Enable.
- Turn the device off and on again, then look for the app.
- Check the Play Protect certification status, then contact the carrier or manufacturer.
The Play Store will not open, load or finish a download
A weak connection, a full device or a stale cache.
- Connect to a Wi-Fi network with a strong signal.
- Open Settings > Storage and free space; trouble starts below 1 GB.
- Open Settings > System > Date & time and turn on Set time automatically.
- Open Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps and tap Google Play Store.
- Open Storage, tap Clear Cache, then Clear data, and repeat for Google Play services.
A Chromebook has no Play Store
Only some Chromebooks support Android apps.
- Select the time at the bottom right, then Settings.
- Select Apps, then Manage Google Play preferences, then More.
- Accept the Terms of Service to finish setup.
- Update ChromeOS if Manage Google Play preferences is absent; on a school or work device, ask the administrator.
How to uninstall Google Play Games on PC

- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps.
- Find Google Play Games on PC and select the three dots beside it.
- Select Uninstall, then Uninstall again to confirm.
- Restart the PC so the platform files are released.
- Reinstall from play.google.com/googleplaygames if the goal was a repair.
The Play Store on a phone works differently. Google documents turning a preinstalled app off and back on in Reinstall & re-enable apps, not deleting it.
