
Fenix development continues. Mozilla is working on a lot of new features for Firefox for Android, Grid View for Tabs is one of them. The feature is now available hidden behind the Secret settings menu, here is how you can enable it.
Recently, Mozilla released Firefox 81 for Android with tab closing options, and, Firefox in Nightly, blocks Redirect Trackers when you select Strict Tracking Protection and it has gained new recommended extensions such as Ghostery, Bitwarden, Adguard, and others.
Enable Grid View for Tabs in Firefox for Android
- Launch Firefox
- Tap on the menu icon and select Settings
- Scroll down to the bottom and select “About Firefox Nightly”
- Tap on the Firefox logo multiple times until you notice the Debug menu is enabled message.
- Go back to the previous page to notice “Secret Settings” at the bottom.
- Here, you can see switches to enable/disable Grid view and Visibility of top sites on the home screen and Synced tabs in the Tabs Tray.
- Toggle switch for “Show Grid View in Tabs Settings”
- Now, head to Settings > General > Tabs > Tab View, selet “Grid”
- Tap the number next to the address bar to open tabs tray
If you don’t have multiple tabs open, visit, or browse some sites by opening them in a new tab. You can now see Firefox displaying Tabs in the Grid View.
To switch to List View again
- Visit Settings > Tabs
- Tab View, select “List”
Do note, as of now the Tabs Grid View feature requires the above steps to turn it on in Nightly. Secret Settings could be a temporary thing, Mozilla may expose them in Settings by default when they have confidence in the stability of the features.
