
Microsoft has started showing “The new browser recommended by Microsoft is here” ad banner on Edge Add-ons Store in Google Chrome and other non-Microsoft web browsers.
It’s obvious for Chrome, Firefox, and Opera to show download browser banner to get extensions from respective stores.
For instance, when you visit Chrome Web Store in a non-Chromium browser, which, doesn’t support installing extensions, it shows a dialog on top saying ” You will need Google Chrome to install most apps, extensions and themes” with an option to download the Chrome browser.
When you visit add-ons for Firefox site in Chrome, the store may show a similar message.
We notice today that, Microsoft Edge add-ons Store when visited in Chrome, Firefox, and other browsers, shows a banner on top to download new edge with a message “Get speed, performance, and compatibility with the new Microsoft Edge”.
You can close the banner by clicking on the “No thanks” button.
When you navigate to Microsoft Edge add-ons site in the new Edge browser itself, it shows the Bing wallpaper Windows app advertisement.
More new Edge ads coming your way! Prepare to see them everywhere, it could be on Windows or on the Microsoft Web services.
For instance, we’ve talked about the Windows 10 Start menu and Search recommending new Edge when you search for its rival-browsers such as Chrome.
New Microsoft Edge promotion can also be seen in Outlook on the Web in other browsers and on Microsoft Store, now Microsoft added Edge add-ons Store to that list.
