YouTube in full screen now lets you scroll down video to see description and comments

Last updated on November 15, 2018 By Venkat

YouTube has added ‘Scroll for details’ option to videos playing on the Web in full screen. While watching a video in full screen on YouTube, without needing to exit the full screen the user can now able to scroll down below to see the description, check comments and videos coming next, you need to scroll up to return to full screen again. The change may cause confusion to users whether they’re in a theater or full-screen mode, if you don’t see the browser UI, then you’re definitely in full screen.

I don’t have Mac/Safari to confirm the issue you’re having. I can see scroll for details button while video in full screen in other browsers on Windows.

How do I turn it off? Is there an option to enable and disable it at leisure? If not, there should be. I’ve found a bunch of comments saying it is annoying, and it is. It is useful at times, but depending on the circumstances, and what you are doing it can be very annoying, such as if you accidentally scroll down and have the comments show up when all you want to do is watch the video, or play a game, and not read the comments or anything else, just watch and /or play. It makes it pointless to even go to fullscreen if you can just scroll down to the comments.in fullscreen. So PLEASE, if this feature is going to stay, put in the option to DISABLE IT!!! Yes, there are those who like it, but not everyone does. I have found more comments talking about how much they dislike this feature than comments about those who like it.

Its built into YouTube seems not possible to turn off atm, someone needs to create an extension for that purpose.
