Google is bringing a slew of new features to address the tab overflow problems in the Chrome browser. Till now it has shipped grouping tabs feature with collapsing support to organize tabs. Chrome’s upcoming Tab Scrolling and “Tab Search” features may actually solve the issue for most users.
What you need to know:
- Google to let you search in open tabs in Chrome without the need to install any extensions
- Chrome’s Tab search feature makes it easy to find the tabs you’re looking for;
- It lists all the tabs opened in the browser,
- Let you locate and close unnecessary tabs making sound
- Keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+A available

Currently, the ability to search open tabs without any extension is now possible in the Canary version, thanks to Google for building the feature for all platforms: Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, and Android.
Chrome has a problem of not displaying new tab icon and tab titles or site favicons when the tab bar overflows. Scrollable Tab Strip will help to scroll through tabs to either the left or right of the tab bar with the mouse.
The Tab Search function could make this even easier. You can now enable it for Chrome on Windows and search in open tabs with the help of that.
Enable Tab Search feature in Chrome
- Right-click on the Chrome shortcut icon on the desktop
- Select Properties
- In the Target field, add the following after giving a space

- Click Apply and Ok, click “Continue” when asked for admin rights.
The feature is working in even stable when you run Chrome with the above command-line switch.
How to search tabs in Chrome
- Launch Chrome
- Click on the dropdown arrow at the end of the last tab
- Search for any tab by typing the site name
- Chrome highlights that tab in the search results which you click and switch to.
