After desktop, Microsoft Edge 93 comes to Android and is now available. It’s still surprising Edge with a unified codebase hasn’t been available to most users on the Play Store to upgrade. If you’re running Edge 92, visit the Play Store and check for updates or use APK to update to the new version.
Microsoft Edge 93 for Android
As we said, Micorosft Edge was stuck on version 46 for a while now. It’s based on the old Chromium and lacking new features, updates, and performance.
For instance, the current Edge version for PC is 93 whereas for Android, based on Chromium it is 77.
While the Edge desktop version is interesting and encourages users to switch to it, that’s not the case when comes to Android.
The users who haven’t updated to Edge running 93 may be vulnerable.
To make feature parity between desktop and mobile platforms, Microsoft switched to using the same code for Microsoft Edge on mobile. This brings new features and improvements in less time to Android and iOS.
While anyone can install the latest version by downloading APK, for security reasons, most prefer to update from Play Store.
If you’re new to Android Edge, here’s a rundown on its new features:
- It lets you sync bookmarks, history, open tabs, favorites, collections, and more across the devices if you’re signed in to the same Microsoft Account.
- Allows sharing tabs between mobile and PC and vice versa.
- Edge has received a screenshot tool to capture and save screen grabs to the device or share with others.
- Edge comes with a Shopping feature. Visit Settings > General and enable coupons to benefit from it and save time and money. Whenever you visit a shopping site, Edge lets you know if any coupons are available which you can select and apply during checkout.
- Unlike Chrome on Android, Edge allows blocking ads on websites when you enable Adblocker in Settings.
Microsoft Edge for Windows, Mac recently shipped with Tab Groups and Vertical Tab mode improvements. Everyone using Edge can now organize tabs, the feature is enabled by default.
If you use Vertical Tabs, Edge now allows hiding the title bar to get more screen space.
