Opera browser previously based on Presto engine, now using Blink/Chromium, known to offer innovative features such as Crypto wallet, My flow and other, lacks basic Reading Mode feature. Here is how to enable Reader Mode in Opera for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
These days, all modern browsers such as Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Vivaldi come with Reader View. Of these, Microsoft Edge has a better Immersive Reader, as it got features of Edge Legacy.
On the other hand, Google Chrome on desktop officially hasn’t launched Reader Mode, it is behind the flag for some time, not sure when it will be available to the public.
Opera for Android comes with Reader Mode, but not Opera browser on the desktop.

Opera desktop team is not developing the feature that lets you read text on clutter-free web pages in a focused environment, instead, you can enable Chrome’s Reader Mode in Opera and take advantage of it. Here’s how you can do that.
1. Visit opera://flags/#enable-reader-mode
2. Select Enabled from the drop-down and restart Opera browser.
3. Visit an eligible webpage, click on Opera menu >Page > toggle reader mode or click on the open book icon
4. This loads the web page in a readable format.
5. You can improve your reading experience even further:
Click on customize appearance, select font from Sans-serif, Serif, and Monospace, choose a dark theme or sepia or continue using the default, and drag the slider between small and large until you feel comfortable with text size on the screen.

The feature looks even improved and works better when you enable the flag in Opera 80 than in Opera 78 stable.
Yes, you will get better and improved Reader mode in Opera version 80, here’s why :
- Opera shows a book icon in the address bar when a page supports Reader mode, you can exit by clicking the same icon.
- Reader Mode styling menu appears with the name than A icon.
