Opera 76 gets feature to reduce duplicate tabs and other improvements

Last updated on April 7, 2021 By Venkat

Today’s web browsers show the ‘Switch to tab’ button in the address bar dropdown when you try to visit the same webpage again. By clicking the button, the browser opens that tab directly and avoids a duplicate tab. It’s surprising and unbelievable to accept, Opera browser which introduces innovative and new features lack the feature, Opera 76 has got that now.

Chrome and Edge Chromium shows the “switch to this tab” button when you type the same site URL in Omnibox that already open in another tab.

This is the basic and most useful option some may find when they open many tabs. Google has added the feature to Chrome in 2018. New Microsoft Edge inherited that from Chromium.

  • When you hover over the ‘switch to tab’ button, Opera helps you to identify the open tab by highlighting it.
  • Open tab will be highlighted in the Search Tabs (Ctrl+Space) interface also when you hover over an open tab

And, Opera version 76 has added a recording indicator and working space name to open tabs.
