Edge 94 features Immersive Reader and Sleeping Tabs improvements

Microsoft continues to improve immersive Reader in Edge browser. After letting you change the font, immersive Reader now allows changing text column width on different screen sizes to enhance the reading experience. In addition to this, Edge 94 comes with Sleeping Tabs improvements and new Accessibility Settings.

Immersive Reader in Edge browser comes with the following features:

1. Launch Edge

2. Visit a webpage you want to read, click on the open book icon in the address bar, or press F9

3. Click on Text Preferences, under Text column Style

4. Choose column style from Narrow, Medium, and Wide. Edge applies the change without the need to reload the page like magic.

Sleeping Tabs improvements

Sleeping Tabs save memory, CPU, and battery life. The feature when enabled starts to take effect immediately in less span of time. Thanks to the new timer interval.

Edge now lets you put inactive tabs to sleep immediately.

  1. Visit System and performance > Optimize performance,
  2. Enable “Save resources with Sleeping Tabs”
  3. Choose “30 seconds of inactivity”

Edge now shows estimated savings for each sleeping tab when you hover over.

Accessibility Settings

The Edge 94  comes with new a section for Accessibility Settings.

Here, it contains options to manage the assignment of F12 key to developer tools, Page zoom, and open system preferences for captions.

You’ll find the new section below “Phone and other devices” and above “About Microsoft Edge” and on “edge://settigs/accessibility” page.
