Microsoft Edge now allows adding Web Capture to Collections

Built-in Web Screenshot tool in Microsoft Edge is getting another great feature. Edge now allows adding Web Captures to Collections and they will sync across the devices. The feature is available via staged rollout to users in Canary. If you use the Web Capture and Collections, you may find the new addition to Edge quite useful.

Web Notes in Edge Legacy let users draw, type, or highlight web pages.

Microsoft launched the Web Capture tool in Edge for the same. With it, you can capture the full webpage, take a screenshot of a page while scrolling, and draw and save the screenshot with mark up.

Recently, Microsoft started testing to select sections of subscrollers while using Web Capture or Smart Copy. The feature is behind “Subscroller area selection” flag. You can enable and use it in Dev and Canary versions.

In addition to existing features, Microsoft announced, it will soon allow users to attach web captures to collections. The feature is now available to some in Edge Canary, part of Controlled rollout.

The collections feature in Edge allows saving stuff you found on the web to rediscover them later. The tool of organizing your ideas is also useful for gathering notes for research projects and for shopping.

Collections are available for desktop and mobile (Android and iOS) and sync across all signed-in devices.

Edge offers the ability to export a collection to OneNote, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Pinterest. Now, Edge lets you sending web captures to collections as well.

How to add a Web Capture to Collections on Microsoft Edge

  1. Ensure you’re using Edge Canary 91.0.864.1 or later, open a tab, visit a webpage,
  2. Click on the three-dot icon
  3. Select Web Capture or use shortcut Ctrl+Shift+S shortcut instead or click on its toolbar icon
  4. Select Free select or Full capture
    If you select former, draw a region on the screen and click More options.
  5. Click on the “Add to collections” option on the toolbar and select a collection to add to.
