It’s a top request from users to add Wikipedia support to Reader mode in the Edge browser. Microsoft has listened and added the Table of Contents navigation and the ability to show more or less content for data tables in Wikipedia Pages to Immersive Reader.
It’s worth noting that not all pages on the web are reader-friendly.
The Reader Mode feature of the web browser makes the content easier to read by removing the clutter.
Edge comes with Immersive Reader built-in and received the following features till now,
- Read aloud, Grammar tools
- Preferences to adjust the text size
- Change page themes for convenient and focused reading,
- Displays a picture for a selected word
- translation of the selected text
In addition to the above, Microsoft made reading Wikipedia content easier with two new features:
1.Table of content
2. Option to expand or collapse data tables
Navigate through Wikipedia Pages by using Immersive Reader’s Table of Contents
To get started,
- Launch Edge
- Visit the Wikipedia website in the address bar
- Click on the book and speaker icon in Omnibox or use the F9 shortcut to launch Immersive Reader Mode
For instance, search for Microsoft, click on Contents on left
- You can able to navigate to any section of the Wikipedia Page by clicking on a particular section in the Navigation pane
View or hide data tables
Immersive Reader in Edge for Wikipedia now hides data tables by default.
You can able to see the other rows by clicking Show more button.
The new Immersive Reader feature for Wikipedia is available in Edge Dev and is rolling out as said by Microsoft.
