
Recently Mozilla released Firefox 82 with Picture in Picture improvements and Performance enhancements. The update triggered printing, crashing issues, and causes automatic website log out issues. Mozilla has throttled automatic updates to Firefox and fixed the Printing issues in Nightly and beta version.
Firefox update breaks receipt Printers and misprints PDFS
Here is what you need to know:
After updating to Firefox v82, users noticed Firefox not able to print to receipt Printers. The printed slice is blank and the Print Preview generated by Firefox is also empty.
Mozilla found this caused by recent regression, it reverted the change in Firefox 84 and Firefox 83 beta 3.
Another issue is also related to Printing, this time, Firefox makes mistake in Printing where it clips and misaligns PDFs due to extra margins.
Here, Firefox generates extra margins at the top and left sides in the output as well as Print Preview and, pushes the content off the printed document.
The company fixed the extra margins printing problem in version 84 and will uplift the patch soon to release.
Mozilla is also looking into reports of Firefox crashing on Windows due to Symantec and Windows Defender.
Cookie Purging causes Login issues, but there is a fix
Another possible bug that logs out of the websites with cookie purging or Redirect Tracking Protection enabled.
Mozilla has found out the reported user isn’t interacting with the website once logged in and has configured Firefox to clear history on exit.
Similar to this happened with Edge where users set the browser to clear Hosted App data on closing Edge. Microsoft is still investigating that issue.

Firefox teams feel this as a rare case and intend to fix it, but not now with a dot release.
As we said above, due to these issues. the company put the automatic updates to Firefox on hold at the moment.

I updated to Firefox 82 but didn’t use it. I primarily use Edge chromium.
The IDM addon does not work after upgrading to v82…
It’s working fine for me. Ensure you’re using the latest IDM version. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the extension from here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tonec-idm-integration-module/ to see it fixes the issue.
