Going to Uninstall Firefox? The Firefox uninstaller now asks to try the Refresh feature instead. The aim of Mozilla including the Refresh button in the Firefox Uninstall wizard is to let it fix corrupt profiles without the need to uninstall the browser.
About Refresh Firefox, when to use it? And how to use it?
Mozilla believes most of the Firefox issues can be fixed using the Refresh button available on the about: support page.
When you clean install Firefox on your computer, it works fast and feels responsive. Over time with the install of unnecessary extensions and themes, Firefox gets slower and slower and performs poorly.
Sometimes, the Firefox profile gets corrupted due to malicious add-ons.
Here is how to Refresh and what happens when you do that
1. Open Firefox, click on menu > Settings > Help > Troubleshooting information
2. Click “Refresh Firefox” and click the Refresh button again
Firefox then, removes your extensions, themes, and customization and restores the browser default settings.
Sometimes, creating a new Profile solves most of the issues, which you can do with a single click by using the Refresh feature. That’s why Mozilla added the Refresh button to Firefox Uninstaller on Windows.
When you visit Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Firefox and click Uninstall,
The Firefox uninstall wizard starts and shows “Refresh Firefox Instead?” with the following message:
“If you’re having problems with Firefox, a refresh can help. This will restore the default settings and remove add-ons. Start fresh for optimal performance.”
If you click the Refresh button, the process starts or if you click Next, the uninstall button appears where you can initiate the Firefox uninstallation.
The change is targetted for Firefox 78. How much do you know about Firefox Refresh feature? Let us know in the comments below.
