
The Microsoft Edge Chromium dev build’s offline installer available for Enterprises and business users means it can be used by end-users to install Chromium Edge offline on multiple computers.
New Microsoft Edge browser based on Chromium is available for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and Windows 10, with support for Chrome extensions, Tracking Prevention, Translator feature, Internet Explorer mode, Reading View, Dark mode support, Autoplay blocker, SpellCheck, and New Tab Page Customization options in Settings.
Microsoft says the Edge team is working behind the scenes to bring Smooth Scrolling, Accessibility improvements, Grammar Tools and AAD Sign Into Edge Preview builds.
Microsoft Edge Chromium setup file available for Dev and Canary Preview builds at microsoftedgeinsider.com requires your computer to be online to install, you can avoid this and install new Microsoft Edge browser offline by using “MSI installer” provided by Microsoft for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. Currently, the MSI installer is available for Edge Developer Preview build only.
Here is how to download and install Edge Chromium offline on your computer
1. Visit microsoftedgeinsider.com/enterprise.
2. Choose from “64-bit MSI for Windows” or “32-bit MSI for Windows” or PKG for macOS if you’ve Mac, click “Accept and download”
3. Once the download is complete, run the “MicrosoftEdgeDevEnterprisex64.msi” file or “MicrosoftEdgeDevEnterprisex86.msi” to install Edge on your computer.
As of writing, the 64-bit MSI installer of size 69 MB where 32-bit MSI installer is of size 65 MB. Do note, the dev build gets updated on a weekly basis, you can always grab the latest version of Edge from the link mentioned above.
