Microsoft disabled these Google services in their Chromium based Edge browser

Microsoft is very choosy about Google services or features or tools they want to keep in Edge browser Powered by Chromium, that’s why they’ve turned off some Chromium features and kept some, which you see and use in your Chrome browser, here they are.

Microsoft Insider Edge Preview build based on Chromium now available for Windows 10 users for download in canary and dev versions. With Windows Defender Smart Screen service integrated and enabled in Edge, the company has said no to Google safe browsing.

Browser ships with Bing as the default Search engine and you can add Google search to insider Edge and set it as default.

The company showed no interest in built-in ad blocking Chrome ships with. With Bing Translation service, you shouldn’t expect Microsoft to allow Google Translate, of course, the Search giant will keep feature exclusive to Chrome browser only, as we know.

Google services removed from Chromium based Edge

The Google services (shown in above pic), part of Chrome, have been either replaced or turned off by Microsoft from Chromium based Edge browser.

Since Microsoft already maintains an add-ons store currently for insiders and also allows installing extensions from Chrome Web Store in it, they’ve removed Chrome Web Store integration.

MS said no to Chrome Cleanup tool that has been integrated into Chrome by Google that uses ESET scan engine to find potential unwanted programs that cause damage to Google browser, so you don’t see Software Reporter tool running for Edge, a privacy concern addressed.

The Picture in Picture feature works in Chromium-based Edge browser and we’ve said MS is working to bring accessibility features such as caret browsing and high contrast mode into Chromium natively. FYI, Chromium-based Edge and Chrome now support text suggestions in development builds.
