Want to restart Firefox browser without the need to exit and open it by clicking on its icon on desktop? Developer Toolbar used to exist till Firefox 62, allowed to restart Firefox by typing the same command, you need to press Shift +F2 to bring up the developer toolbar, the sad part is Graphical command line Interpreter is no longer available starting with version 62, it has been removed by Mozilla. Wondering what could be another fastest way to restart Firefox, we’ve one here, no it’s not the extension that adds restart button! It’s about:restartrequired page.
Use about:restartrequired page to quickly restart Firefox
1. Visit about:restartrequired.
Tip: If you want to restart browser often, bookmark the above page and drag and drop it on to bookmark toolbar for quick access.
2. Click ‘Restart Firefox’, Firefox browser will restart and restores all the tabs and windows that were open last time.
We assume Mozilla may use this page to update Firefox, not sure about it. But here is what the page says ”
Sorry. We just need to do one small thing to keep going. We have just installed an update in the background. Click Restart Firefox to finish applying it. We will restore all your pages, Windows and tabs afterwards, so you can on your way quickly.”
Here in our case, Firefox saying installed update part in the above is not true, but Firefox browser restarting and restoring all tabs and windows open last time is true and that happens actually.
Haven’t you found this useful? Let us know in the comments.
Hmm interesting. I add it on bookmark.
This doesn’t work for me. I am running Debian, which does not have the latest or developer editions in the repo, so I manually update it with a script. However, short of manually stopping and starting the browser. I was hoping this page would work, but it only works if I haven’t done a manual update.
Awesome. Thanks. Bookmarked.
I’d never seen Techdows before. Will check out the rest of the site.
