Windows saves most recently used entries (MRUs) you type in Run dialog box and displays them for choosing to run when you launch it by pressing Win key +R. For the uninitiated, the Run dialog can be used launch command prompt window and built-in Microsoft applications and services such as Notepad, mspaint, and Disk Cleanup utility (cleanmgr), etc.

If Run dialog is not saving or showing the history of commands you’ve used so far in Windows 10, here is how to fix that.

Fix Run command history not saved in Windows 10
- Open Start menu and click on the gear icon to launch Settings app
- Open Personalization > Start, enable ‘ Show most used apps‘ option.
Note: This not only fixes this issue, but makes the Start Menu to display most recently used applications on top of it for quick and easy access.
