Each problem below has one cause and one fix.
The Mac App Store says Vimeo is not compatible
The Mac runs a macOS release older than 11.0.
- Open the Apple menu, then About This Mac, and read the macOS version.
- Open System Settings, then General, then Software Update, and install macOS 11 or later if your Mac supports it.
- Use vimeo.com in Safari when the Mac cannot update.
Edge has no Install this site as an app option
Edge is out of date.
- Open Settings and more, then Help and feedback, then About Microsoft Edge, and let it update.
- Restart Edge and reload vimeo.com.
- Open Settings and more, then More tools, then Apps, and select Install this site as an app.
The Record desktop app will not install
Vimeo retired the Record desktop app for new installations.
- Sign in at vimeo.com and open the Record Studio instead.
- Keep each take under 30 minutes on Free, or 120 minutes on a paid plan.
Uploads from the Mac app stall or time out
Too many files are queued at once.
- Pause the queue and keep 10 or fewer videos uploading at a time.
- Upload very large batches from vimeo.com in a browser instead.
- Check the account’s storage; a Free account stops at 1 GB.
How to uninstall Vimeo
Removing the app leaves your videos on Vimeo untouched.
- On Windows, type edge://apps in the Edge address bar.
