Firefox 61: Recent Downloads in Highlights on New Tab Page

Mozilla is continuing to improve the activity stream or the Firefox New Tab Page. The company has recently confirmed they’ll show sponsored content on new tab from Firefox 60 version onwards, meanwhile, the Highlights section on NTP now shows recent downloads. The feature is targeted for Firefox 61.

If you download a file in Firefox browser using the built-in download manager, that item will be added to Highlights, which when clicked the file containing folder will open. Downloaded item has the options to open file, open containing folder, Go to download page, Copy download link, Remove from history and Dismiss.

If you don’t want recent downloaded files to appear on New tab under Highlights, you can stop that from happening, here is how that can be done.
