Skip the font installer if you use the desktop app. The desktop app reads your installed fonts on its own.
How to install Figma on Windows 11 and 10
The Windows setup is a single file with no options to choose. It installs the app and opens it when done.
- Open the Figma downloads page and click Desktop app for Windows, or Desktop app for Windows Arm on a Snapdragon laptop.
- Wait for FigmaSetup.exe to finish downloading to your Downloads folder.
- Double-click FigmaSetup.exe to run the installer.
- Wait while setup installs Figma. The app opens by itself when it finishes.
- Click Log in and sign in with your email and password, Google, or your company SSO.
- Open a draft or team file from the file browser.
- Delete FigmaSetup.exe from your Downloads folder.
Figma appears in the Start menu as Figma. Pin it to the taskbar if you open it daily.
Which Figma download do you need for your Mac?
One small disk image serves Apple silicon and Intel Macs. It downloads the app during setup, so stay online.

To install, open Figma.dmg, move the Figma icon to your Applications folder, then delete the installer. Open Figma from Applications or Launchpad and log in.
Check your version under Apple menu > About This Mac before you download.
Is Figma free?
Yes. The desktop app is free, and the free Starter plan covers personal projects. Starter gives you one team with one folder and 3 files, unlimited drafts, UI kits and templates, and 30 days of version history. It leaves out shared libraries and Dev Mode. Professional costs $16 per full seat per month, with $12 Dev seats and $3 Collab seats. Organization is $55 and Enterprise $90 per full seat per month, billed annually. Verified students and teachers get Figma and FigJam free. The desktop app is the same download on every plan, so a site selling a “Figma Pro” installer is not Figma.
Choose between the Figma desktop app and Figma Beta
Install the regular desktop app. Add Figma Beta only if you want to test fixes early. The beta gets bug fixes and performance changes before general release, but no unreleased features. It is a test build, currently 126.10.2 against 126.8.18 on the stable channel. Both apps install side by side as Figma and Figma Beta, and each can use a different account.

How to check your Figma version and update it
Figma drops support for each desktop version six months after release. An old copy eventually stops working, so update when prompted.
- On Windows, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps and find Figma to see its version.
- On a Mac, open Applications, right-click Figma and select Get Info.
- Compare the number with the current release, 126.8.18.
- Open Figma and click the update message when it appears.
- Let the app restart to finish the update.
- On a work computer, ask your administrator if the update is blocked.
Installing over the top from the downloads page also brings you to the latest build without losing your files, which live in your Figma account.
Check the Figma system requirements
The operating system is the hard limit. Figma draws the canvas with WebGL, so a current graphics driver matters more than raw power.

Fix Figma not installing or not opening
Setup will not run on Windows
The desktop app needs 64-bit Windows 10 or later.
- Open Settings > System > About and read System type.
- Use Figma in Chrome or Edge if the PC runs 32-bit Windows or Windows 8.1.
- Download the Arm build instead if the line says ARM-based processor.
The canvas is black, blank or glitchy
Figma renders through WebGL, and an outdated or unsupported graphics driver breaks it.
- Install pending updates in Settings > Windows Update.
- Update the graphics driver from your PC or GPU maker.
- On a laptop with two GPUs, open Settings > System > Display > Graphics, add Figma and choose High performance.
- Expect poor performance in Citrix or VMware sessions without an assigned graphics card.
Figma will not open on an older Mac
The desktop app needs macOS 12 Monterey or later.
- Open Apple menu > About This Mac and check the version.
- Update macOS in System Settings > General > Software Update if your Mac supports it.
- Use Figma in Safari 17.4 or Chrome 120 or later otherwise.
Local fonts are missing in the browser
Browser Figma needs the font installer to see fonts on your computer.
- Install the Figma desktop app, which reads local fonts without a helper.
- Or install the font installer from the downloads page and reload the browser tab.
How to uninstall Figma
Your files live in your Figma account, not on the computer. Removing the app deletes nothing you made.
- Quit Figma, including its icon in the Windows system tray or Mac menu bar.
- On Windows, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Figma, select the three-dot menu, then Uninstall, and confirm.
- On a Mac, open Applications and drag Figma to the Trash.
- Empty the Trash.
- Remove Figma Beta the same way if you installed it.
The font installer is a separate app called FigmaAgent. Remove it from the same list if you installed it for browser use.
