Finally, the popular social site, Reddit site can now be installed as a Progressive Web App. It surprises everyone Reddit hasn’t worked on making PWA for its Site for some time. Seems recently it has received support for becoming a PWA. As a PWA, you can install Reddit on PC, Mac, and Chromebook from supported browsers.
How to install Reddit Progressive Web App (PWA)
If you now visit the Reddit site in Chrome or Edge browser, you’ll get an option in the address bar to install it.

You can also utilize the “Install Reddit” option in the menu for the same.
When you install Reddit, it opens in a standalone window, doesn’t contain an address bar.
Tabs, depend on which web browser you install.

For instance, you’ll get Tabbed window PWA when you install Reddit in Chrome.
Edge won’t offer the option to open the app in a “tabbed window” in its install dialog by default.
Relatedly, after Android, desktop PWA install dialog getting a new UI.
Despite being a PWA, the Reddit menu looks different in Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
For instance, the three-dot menu in Chrome PWA makes it easier to Uninstall App from the menu.
Edge doesn’t offer this, but it has some updated design regarding permissions and Privacy.

How to uninstall Reddit PWA
I. For Chrome
- Visit chrome://apps in Chrome browser
- Right-click on Reddit App and select “Remove from Chrome”, click Remove.
II. For Microsoft Edge:
- Head to edge://apps in edge browser.
- Hover over and click on the close icon for Reddit to uninstall, click Remove.

Reddit PWA could still be the same as the web version, but browsing in PWA feels like a native app.
