Till now, Chrome on Android shows Progressive Web App install dialog at the center when you select the install option in the menu, this is going to change. Google is working to implement a bottom sheet for PWA installs and so far, the feature is already working in Chrome Canary. The chromium team is also planning to bring the same PWAs installation UI to the desktop as well.
Ideally, Google wants to show more information from the web app manifest such as screenshots, categories, and descriptions in the install prompt.
“The bottom-sheet UI is a hybrid between the PWA install infobar and the install dialog and serves as a direct replacement when the feature is enabled,” the bug commit says.

Enable bottom sheet UI for PWA installs in Chrome on Android
- Launch Chrome browser
- Visit chrome://flags
- Search for “Mobile PWA installation bottom Sheet”

- Tap on the dropdown and select “Enabled”
- Relaunch browser
Here is what the flag description says “Enables use of a rich bottom sheet when offering mobile PWA installation”
Next,
- Visit any PWA
- tap on the menu,
- select “Install App” to notice the install dialog appearing at the bottom with screenshot and description.

Do note this feature is still WIP. What’s your take on the new UI of the PWA install dialog on Chrome for Android? Let us know in the comments below.
