How to Uninstall PWAs from Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers

Both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge on version 76 support Progressive Web Apps and you can install them with a single click by clicking on the indicator that appears in the address bar when you visit a PWA site. Edge PWAs can be uninstalled from the start menu as well as from Control Panel on Windows, but this is not the case with PWAs installed from Chrome browser.

Do note Edge browser based on Chromium is still in development, but a step ahead in case of supporting PWAs in the browser when compared with Chrome, as it offers  Jumplist support and back button.

FYI, The Web apps installed in Chrome and Edge browser can be managed by visiting chrome://apps and edge://apps pages.

Remove PWAs from Chrome and Edge browsers

Chrome browser:

1. Launch Chrome

2. Visit chrome://apps page

3. Right-click on  a PWA and select “Remove from Chrome”

4. Check “Also clear data from Chrome” (optional) and click “Remove”.

Microsoft Edge Chromium:

1. Launch new Microsoft Edge browser based on Chromium

2. Visit edge://apps or click on ellipsis > Apps > Manage Apps

3. Right-click on an app and select “Remove”

4. Check “Also clear data from Microsoft Edge” (optional) and click “Remove”.

You can uninstall Edge PWAs like other apps from Control Panel on Windows or by vistiing Settings App on Windows 10

1. Open  Control Panel > Programs and Features > Programs

2. Select App and click Uninstall.

On Windows 10,

1. Open Settings app

2. Click on Apps > Apps & features, scroll down and find the app, click on it and uninstall.
