Mi TV 4X OTA Update 2021 removes Data Saver Mode

Xiaomi has pushed an update to MI TV 4X Android TVs recently. The update contains April’s security patch, Quick Wake, Quick Mute features, and other bug fixes and enhancements. As of now, Android TV Data Saver from Google Play Store also not working, causing users to lose valuable smartphone data when they stream content to the TVs via mobile hotspots.

How  to Install Android TV Data Saver in Mi TV 4X

With the built-in option no longer available, you can still add the Data Saver offered by Google on Play Store to your Smart TV. Here is how that can be done.

  • Visit Google Play Store
  • Search for Android TV Data Saver by Google and install it on your TV.

Unfortunately, doing so also doesn’t help. Selecting the option toggles back to the previous input. This issue was reported by affected users also.

Reset isn’t restoring the feature either.

You better wait for another update or don’t perform an update at all.

But the OTA includes a security patch, so you may have to stream content on TV at expense of valuable mobile data if you want it.
