The latest Cumulative Update KB4571756 (OS build 19041.508) released for Windows 10 2004 improves security when using input devices and Microsoft office products and also comes with improvements and bug fixes. The update is now reportedly breaking Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL 2) with the error ” Element not found”.

Those users who installed and using WSL 2 on Windows 10 May 2020 Update, after installing KB457176 Update followed by a restart, reported they got an “Element not found” error when they try to launch Windows Terminal with WSL.

Another affected user with this issue confirms deleting docker folders in App data, followed by uninstalling and reinstalling the Docker didn’t resolve the issue, but uninstalling the update did.

While uninstalling the update may not be the recommended solution, but if you want to use WSL 2 in Windows 10, that’s the only workaround available as of now.
