Mozilla has published Firefox Preview 5.0 (Fenix) based on GeckoView 76.0 to Google Play store and is available for download with new add-ons, PWA, and Picture-in-Picture for Video support, improvements, and bug fixes.
The next version of Firefox for Android is almost ready with Firefox Preview 5.0 release, Mozilla has already brought Fenix to Nightly and beta versions, expect Fenix to come to Fennec at any time from now.
Fenix now supports 6 recommended extensions including that of UBlock Origin which brought the initial extensions support. The newly available 5 add-ons can be found in browser settings, to install each extension in Fenix, visit Settings > add-ons, and click + button.
Mozilla has brought these most popular add-ons to Fenix with this release: HTTPS Everywhere, NoScript Security Suite, Dark Reader, Privacy Badger and Search by Image.
Supports Progressive Web Apps and Picture-in-Picture for Video. After Desktop Firefox, Firefox Preview for Android now supports Picture in Picture for videos out of the box.
To play a video in PiP mode, visit YouTube, play any video, go fullscreen, click on the home screen button to see the video playing in Picture in Picture window.
This release also includes media playback improvements, supports fullscreen on devices with notches/cutouts.
If you’re using Firefox Preview 4.3.0. visit Play Store, search for Firefox Preview, and download the update if available.
