8 years back Google has launched Adsense Publisher Toolbar or Google Publisher Toolbar Chrome Extension for AdSense users to check up-to-date information about their account earnings, performance. The GPT extension adds an overlay to each of the ads and provides the information such as ad size, advertiser name, and display URL when clicked by the publisher. Google today announced starting May 2020, the extension will be removed from Chrome Web Store and won’t’ be available for further use.
“AdSense is on a mission in 2020 to reduce complexity and provide enhanced yet simplified set of tools to help you focus on creating great content. To help support this mission, the Google Publisher toolbar will no longer be available for use from May 2020” Google cites the reason for removing the Publisher Toolbar.
The company says this going forward users won’t be able to access AdSense data from the toolbar, but they can access the same through the AdSense interface. The important changes to the Google Publisher Toolbar page suggest homepage reports, ad review center, and homepage cards as replacements to Toolbar’s features.
The Google Publisher Toolbar extension has stopped working a few months back where it asks to copy code and paste in the application after linking it to the AdSense account. The extension is already redundant, so Google removing it makes complete sense. For the uninitiated, GPT allowed AdSense users to quickly know their estimated earnings for that day, previous day and last month from the toolbar without the need to sign in to Adsense Account, this facility is going away now.
