CCleaner gets Health Check & Edge Chromium support, removes Windows XP's

Piriform’s CCleaner has got a major update, a new version 5.64 has been released and available for download with new Health Check and Chromium Edge support. CCleaner will no longer receive feature updates on Windows XP and Vista, CCleaner 5.64 is the last supported version for these, but the company promises it will push critical updates when needed. Piriform owned by Avast software will display Avast products in CCleaner Installer unchecked by default (that means they’ll be prechecked for Chrome and other non-Avast products), where users can easily decline these unwanted software offers.

Health Check

After testing new Health Check and Edge Chromium support preview features in beta versions, Piriform today added the features to its CCleaner tool for the public. Though the CCleaner has replaced Easy Clean with Health Check’s intuitive and user-friendly interface it’s just a revamped UI and a ploy from makers to include and promote about CCleaner Premium features such as Software Updater (Security) and Startup Manager (Speed). Edge Chromium Support

The latest CCleaner now cleans Edge Chromium browsing history also. You can see it listed with the name “Edge Chromium” along with old Microsoft Edge under the Windows tab. CCleaner does prompt to close Classic Edge when it runs in the background due to preloading, you can ask CCleaner to disable Edge Preloading for its complete cleaning.

No Windows XP and Vista Support

CCleaner 5.64.7613 is the last version to support Windows Vista and XP, piriform says it will ship critical updates to these platforms. If you’re using Windows XP, it is better to upgrade to Windows 10 not even Windows 7, for better security and performance.

CCleaner installer now shows Avast and other product install offers in a separate step and these offers will be unchecked by default and won’t be forced on users where they can decline if not interested, check the screenshot below.
