Piriform has released a new version for CCleaner –CCleaner v5.61- with the ability to detect and clear clipboard history in Windows 10. In case you don’t know, Windows 10 October 2018 Update version 1809 has a new clipboard experience which when enabled, lets you view and access history of all copied items to the clipboard.
There is a possibility of copying sensitive information such as logins, passwords and banking info to the clipboard, which can be seen by others if they press the shortcut Win+V on your device.
The CCleaner 5.60 and earlier versions don’t support clearing new clipboard history available in Windows 10 1809. Running the tool in custom cleaning mode with Clipboard option selected in Windows tab doesn’t do that, which now, beginning from CCleaner version 5.61 onwards.
Piriform mentions in the new version release notes that they have “added cleaning for Windows 10 clipboard history”.
If you use CCleaner regularly to delete temporary files, browser history, then this addition may protect your privacy by cleaning sensitive information stored by Windows 10 in the Clipboard history panel. Though the history panel and Settings app do offer clear option, its good to have CCleaner doing that for you.
Do note clipboard history isn’t enabled by default in Windows 10 October 2018 Update, which you can by visiting Settings > System > Clipboard > Clipboard history.
To manage Clipboard cleaning in CCleaner on Windows 10, launch CCleaner, visit Custom Clean > Windows >System > Clipboard.
