Yesterday Twitter has announced Android users can have lights out on Twitter if they have dark mode enabled, seems the “Lights out dark mode” feature is still rolling out and not yet available even if you’ve installed the recent update, by clearing Twitter App data, you can able to manually enable the feature in Twitter app, here is how that can be done.
Turning on Lights out dark Mode for Twitter on Android
Before following the instructions, ensure your Twitter is using the latest version 8.18.0 on Android and check if you’ve “Lights out” option available or not under “Dark Mode Appearance” in Display and Sound, if it’s not available, then follow the below steps.
1. Visit Device Settings > Apps > Manage Apps
2. Search for Twitter, select the App, use the “Force stop”option,
3. Visit Storage and tap “Clear data” and tap “Ok”. Don’t freak out your data won’t be lost and you’ll still be signed into Twitter after this step, but because of this the cache will be cleared and settings will be restored to default.
4. Now open Twitter App, and “Force Stop” Twitter again by following steps from 1 to 2, now open Twitter again and turn on the dark mode by visiting its Settings, you’ll now have Lights out option available and selected instead of “Dim”.
Note: The options may vary depending on the Phone you’re using, but the procedure is same and these instructions have worked for us. [Via 9to5Google].
