Chrome 76 beta for Android brings new UI for downloads

Latest Chrome 76 beta released for Android brought a new UI for the downloads page. The revamped downloads page sports “My Files” and “Articles for You” sections. In former, you can track files you’ve downloaded so far from Chrome to your device where as in latter, suggested articles will appear for you which you can read offline. Google has implemented “Download Home v2” which till now is behind a flag.

Downloads UI you see if you select “Downloads” option in Chrome menu on Android has been redesigned and enabled by default in Chrome beta. For each download, the progress bar displays new pause/resume and cancel controls. When compared with current UI, the new UI groups and displays downloaded files in All, Pages and Other tabs under My Files.

To spot these changes right now

1. Download and install the latest Chrome beta 76.0.3809.45 from Google Play Store

2. Begin a new download and click on “Details” in download notification shown in the snackbar.
