Vivaldi tests a fix for Black Screen issue in Windows 7 After 2.5 Update

Some Vivaldi users on Windows 7 who updated to version 2.5 experienced a black screen issue in the browser and reported this to Vivaldi, the company yesterday released a new snapshot by including a fix for the issue. If the fix works well then it will be backported to Vivaldi 2.5 stable from Vivaldi 2.6 snapshot.

Apart from this, the latest Vivaldi snapshot 1554.13 drops human avatars. Do note recent Vivaldi 2.6 snapshot blocks abusive ad experiences and brought some new avatars for user profiles replacing those of generic ones offered in Chromium. ‘

The update also improves speed dials animation and offers an option (v menu> Tools > Settings > Quick Commands > include in search results > Calculator) in Settings to turn off Calculator from being displayed in Quick Commands window.

Vivaldi 2.6 snapshot

A new “Accept languages” setting added under Language in General section of Vivaldi, do note this setting is incomplete.

UPDATE May 30, 2019: Vivaldi released a minor update for Vivaldi 2.5 to fix the issue, update Vivaldi now by clicking “Check for updates” in Help menu.
