
As Vivaldi 2.5 is out of the door, Vivaldi team today released snapshot 2.6 based on Chrome 74 to bring Chrome’s abusive ab blocking feature to users, Vivaldi team also created new avatars for user Profiles on their own to replace new Chrome Profile pictures recently Chromium team added from Chrome OS to Mac, Windows, and Linux platforms.

New avatars: Vivaldi 2.4 introduced user profiles to share single Vivaldi installation by multiple users, Vivaldi team now fulfilling the requests made by users to add and delete profiles from pop up and allows users to edit the avatar from the profile dialog. The profile pictures or avatars in Vivaldi 2.6 are replaced with new avatars made by Vivaldi team. Do let us know you like them or not.
To see them, click on the Profile icon and choose the desired avatar from available. Unlike Chrome, these avatars of Man, woman, and animals.
Abusive ads blocking: Vivaldi now blocks ads on sites that use abusive technologies by default in snapshot 2.6. Vivaldi uses the blocklist Chrome uses and the company has to work hard to implement the feature. You can see ad blocking enabled in Vivaldi Privacy Settings with new option “block ads on abusive violating sites”.
For the uninitiated, Chrome 71 integrated and enabled ad blocker that blocks ads on site that tricks users to click by acting like they are system warnings or close buttons, which they are not. You can read about this on official Chromium blog here, Vivaldi now implemented this feature.
The snapshot fixed WhatsApp Web issue, where the site stopped working in Vivaldi 2.5 release after user agent spoof which company using from since last 4 years stopped functioning due to a recent update, we’ve covered a workaround to make WhatsApp web work in Vivaldi again, which no longer required in current stable and snapshot versions of Vivaldi.
