Mozilla adds Native Windows 10 Share Support to Firefox

Finally, Mozilla has added support for native Windows 10 Share feature to Firefox browser by adding Share button in the page actions menu. The change has been landed in Firefox 64.

From now on, Whenever you want to a share a page from Firefox to Windows 10, click on three dots ( …) in the address bar to bring up Page Actions select Share,  Share UI opens and displays apps– Copy link, Mail, Cortana Reminders, OneNote, Twitter and Skype — to share the content. If you’ve installed Facebook and other apps, they’ll be shown in Share dialog as well. Do note, Share menu will be hidden in other versions of Windows.

As you know, Microsoft Edge browser offers ‘Share this page’ button that brings share experience similar to Firefox on Windows 10.

Sometime back, Firefox has offered ‘Share this Page’ button in the address bar, part of SocialAPI, after removing SocialAPI, Share has been also removed and offered as an add-on, now available and supports Firefox 57+ that implements share feature in Firefox with container support.

  1. Ensure you’re using Windows 10 and latest Firefox Nightly
  2. Visit any page, click on … to open Page Action menu
  3. Select the Share button and select App, done.

For example, if you’ve selected ‘Twitter’ App above, the app opens, where you need to sign into it to post content, same with Mail and Facebook Apps.
