Firefox 61 brings faster tab switching, dark theme and performance improvements. Mozilla has released Firefox 61 for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. The new Firefox version improves page rendering, thanks to new Retained Display Lists and Quantum CSS enhancements that were landed. With tab warming feature, tab switching has got really faster in this Firefox version, you may or may not notice this.

What’s new:
Those who’re complaining about dark theme, it has been improved to look consistent through out Firefox UI, some work is still in progress.
The new tab is black now as also the menus such as library, page action and drop downs in address bar.
To see the Firefox with dark theme in action, click on hamburger menu > add-ons >Themes, click Enable for dark theme.

Add Search engines to address bar from page action menu in Firefox 61
Search engines of websites that provides openserch plugins, can now be added from the option present in the page action menu.
Visit the website search engine you want to add to Firefox location bar, click on three dots icon to open Page action menu and select ‘Add search engine’.

Have you forgot! Firefox no longer comes with search bar, which used to highlight when you can add a site as search engine to Firefox browser. Lot of things changed with Firefox Quantum release.

Firefox Homepage and new tab page settings got new Home (about:preferences#home)
Meet new Home preferences page in Firefox options, the page offers settings dedicated to customizing Firefox homepage and new tab page. These settings also allow us to set new tab as blank, find out how you can do that in the link below. And Highlights section on New Tab Page now displays recent downloads.

Close tabs in Firefox with a double click
Till now you need to rely on an extension in Firefox browser to close a tab with double click, which no longer the case starting with Firefox version 61, you need to visit about:config, search for browser.tabs.closeTabByDblclick and set the preference value to true to do that.

What else
To improve security. this version of Firefox blocks access to FTP subresources and enables TLS 1.3 specification by default.
Added support to WebExtensions to hide tabs.
Bookmark Syncing has been improved in this version.
