
No more A/B testing, it seems as if, Microsoft is widely rolling out rounded corners for browser frames in the Microsoft Edge browser, albeit in Canary. Here is how to disable rounded corners for the browser Windows in Edge.
Microsoft forces Rounded Corners everywhere in Edge
Microsoft has greatly rejuvenated Microsoft Edge with rounded tabs on Windows 11.
Sometime back, the company also tested the mica material effect for the title bar and toolbar.
Looks like Microsoft Edge is going to get a huge upgrade this time.
As usual, the changes will be first tested in Canary.
What is interesting is Microsoft is applying rounded corners for web pages, videos, and everything inside the Edge browser.
Though this went live for a few Edge insiders in the past, this has now been enabled in the latest Edge Canary channel.
How you can spot the rounded corners for browser windows in Edge? and What are they?
Just open a web page, and you can spot the rounded corner around the browser window frame. Check the screenshot posted below.

Microsoft itself says the feature enables “rounded tabs, rounded corners, and browser frames that bring visual separation” for Edge browser on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

How to disable rounded corners for Web Content in Microsoft Edge
- Launch Edge browser
- Click on menu
- Select Settings and Appearance
- Scroll down and toggle off or disable the “Use rounded corners for browser windows” setting
- Click Restart for the changes to apply.
This takes care of things.

Edge browser Windows corners will appear square again. It’s unusual for Edge to follow this design change as no other browser has tried this so far.
This could be an experiment. Hope rounded corners may not make it into Dev, beta, and further into a release or stable versions.
The Edge team should keep the rounded window corners feature optional rather than enabled by default. With the setting or toggle available, users can disable it or enable it if they want.
After the Bing toolbar icon, this could be another visual change in Edge that may annoy users even more.
