Microsoft has heard your anguish over the bing toolbar icon in Edge. The company now has added a setting to disable it in Edge. However, the setting is available in Edge Canary, you may have to wait for a few weeks for it to show up in the release. But anyway, here is how to hide Bing discover button in Micorsoft Edge.
What happened?
A recent Edge 111 update has added Bing chat Discover button to the toolbar.

While Bing Chat, compose, and improved discover which shows insights in the sidebar while you browse websites is a welcome addition. The big bing toolbar icon isn’t.
We’ve covered instructions to disable or remove it from Edge on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
The methods aren’t easier or normal Edge users to follow. One requires adding a command line argument to the Edge shortcut, other needs Registry Editing. On Mac, Edge users need to run commands from the Terminal.
Despite all this, we’ve hoped Microsoft to offer an Edge setting to hide it, the company has now done that, albeit in Edge 113 Canary.
How to hide the Bing Discover button in Microsoft Edge
If you’ve already disabled the Bing icon, re-enable it by reversing the steps.
- Open Micorsoft Edge
- Hover over the Bing toolbar icon
- Click the three-dot menu icon and select “Notification and App Settings”

- Toggle Show discover to off.
We’re not sure when the setting to control the Discover button visibility will be available in the Edge release.
Considering the complaints, it could ship with Edge 112 release.
Microsoft Edge gets updated frequently, so ensure you’re using the Edge updated version and wait for the setting to reach a stable version in the coming weeks.
