
Mozilla is quietly testing “Firefox Suggest” on a limited number of users in the US. The company claims the feature shows “relevant site suggestions based on your queries to help you navigate the web.” The suggestions appear under Firefox Suggest in the address bar. This may annoy you.

For few years, the company has started looking for ways to make money with its products. Subscription-based Mozilla VPN that is available today emerged like that. The organization has partnered with Mullavad for its VPN application.
Before that, it has tested Proton VPN.
Mozilla may have received small money through sponsored Pocket Stories and top sites on Firefox’s New Tab Page.
Now, the company is exploring Sponsored search suggestions in the address bar to further increase its revenue.
What is Firefox Suggest
Firefox team has been silently started testing Firefox suggest that shows site suggestions based on the user queries. The suggestions may include paid promotion also.
Mozilla says the feature allows you to “find information easily and get to where you want to go quicker”.
When you click or see a Firefox Suggestion, Firefox sends technical data to its Partner, adMarketPlace through the Mozilla Proxy service.
“This data does not include any personally identifying information and is shared when you see or click on Firefox Suggestion,” the feature support page says.
Enable or Disable Firefox Suggest
- Click on the Menu icon and select Settings
- Select Search
- Scroll down to Search Suggestions, under ” choose how search suggestions appear“
- Check “Show Firefox Suggest in the address bar (suggest and sponsored results)
