
Finally, the Malwarebytes team has able to find a fix for Performance issues their anti-malware application is causing to devices running Windows 10 May 2020 Update. The company today released a new beta version “4.1.2.73 component update 1.0.990” to address the issue.
Microsoft released Windows 10 version 2004 on May 27. The feature update is available for devices running Windows 10 1903 and 1909 and users need to manually check for updates to get it.
Windows 10 update has a lot of known issues. Some apps such as including OneDrive and other third-party apps aren’t compatible and may not work properly when installed.
Malwarebytes users upgraded to version 2004 reported system freezing and other severe performance issues.
Malwarebytes has acknowledged the issues and able to reproduce in their in-house testing.
While there are reports in the past on Malwarebytes forums that installing the beta version will fix the issue, the company hasn’t confirmed that.
Malwarebytes suggested affected users to do the following
1. Don’t update to Windows 10 2004 until a fix is available
2. Restart your system and see it resolves the issue.
3. Do a fresh reinstall of Malwarebytes with Malwarebytes Support Tool
4. If the above steps don’t help, disable the ransomware protection component.
Malwarebytes 4.1.2 beta
The company today updated Windows 10 2004 performance issue thread and MB4.1 beta thread with new updates to inform
“We have just released a new beta version that intends to address the performance issues that can occur with Ransomware Protection enabled on Windows 10 2004.”
“We have a new Malwarebytes quick Beta update for your product: version 4.12.73 component update 1.0.990.”

Fixed: MB4 causes severe system performance issues with Windows 10 v2004.
If you’re using the Malwarebytes release version, you can test the new Malwarebytes 4.1.2 Beta by turning on beta updates within the application.
For that,
Launch Malwarebytes> General > Beta updates > Toggle “Get early access to the latest software and security features”.
After that, you need to click on the “Check for updates” button under “application updates” to get the latest beta version.
Note: Beta software may contain bugs and cause serious system issues, backup your data before using it.
